Abstract:
Micro Pattern Gaseous Detectors (MPGD), invented in the late years of the 20th century to meet the challenges of experiments in high energy physics, have been adopted by multiple particle experiments at CERN and in other laboratories. Their usage is becoming popular in various scientific fields and other applications. The RD51 collaboration at CERN is dedicated to the technological development of MPGDs, and their dissemination. The seminar will present the status and perspectives of MPGDs with focus on the most recent achievements with short description of the RD51 collaboration and its activities.
About the speaker:
Silvia Dalla Torre is Senior Researcher at INFN-Trieste, where she was Director in period 2009-2015. Her scientific activity is dedicated to hadron physics with experiments at Saclay in the eighties and, then, at CERN LEAR and SPS. More recently, she has joined the EIC User Group preparing the future experiments at the US EIC facility. She is specialized in particle detectors, in particular in the fields of
gaseous detectors and of Cherenkov imaging detectors. She is member of the ECFA Detector Panel and co-spokesperson of the technological collaboration RD 51 dedicated to the development and dissemination of
MPGDs. |
