Abstract: Dark matter is a hypothetical form of matter that, if it exists, may account for more than a quarter of the energy density of our universe. Despite the variety of astrophysical evidence pointing to its existence, the direct interaction of dark matter in a terrestrial detector is yet to be observed. The Super Cryogenic Dark Matter Search (SuperCDMS) experiment tries to observe a dark matter signal in silicon and germanium detectors operated around 50 mili-Kelvin. In this talk, I will discuss the technology, the current status, and the projected sensitivity of the next generation SuperCDMS experiment.
CV of Speaker: 洪子卿,2010年本科毕业于中国科学技术大学近代物理系。2015年于Texas A&M University获得物理博士学位。2015年至今在Northwestern University以博士后职位从事研究。研究方向是基本粒子实验,主攻暗物质探测实验。参与SuperCDMS合作组,运用高纯硅和锗晶体与Transition Edge Sensor (TES) 技术,在加拿大Snolab地下实验室进行暗物质直接探测。其团队领导SuperCDMS新型探测器的优化,刻度与标定。 |
