A Workshop on STAR-iTPC upgrade and Beam Energy Scan Physics

A STAR-iTPC upgrade workshop will be held at Shandong University, Jinan, during December 3-4, 2016. The purpose of the workshop includes review of iTPC-MWPC preparation in China, and discussion of Beam Energy Scan II physics at RHIC. It will be a two-day workshop.  

The inner sector upgrade of STAR TPC (iTPC) will increase the segmentation on the inner padplane and renew the inner sector wire chambers, which will extend the TPC acceptance to |eta|<1.5 from |eta|<1, and provide better resolution in both momentum and energy loss dEdx, with better particle identification and lower minimum transverse momentum cut. The iTPC upgrade is one of the key detector upgrades for RHIC Beam Energy Scan II during 2019-2020.  The main physics program with BES-II is to study the QCD phase transition, in particular the search of possible critical point in the phase diagram of nuclear matter.

Travel information:
There is no direct flight from U.S. or Europe to Ji’nan, and you need to transfer via Beijing or Shanghai. The airport code of Jinan Yaoqiang airport is TNA. It costs ~150RMB from airport to our campus at 27 Shanda South Road.

Train station: There are two train station: (1) Jinan West Station, taxi cost ~55 RMB to our campus. (2) Jinan Station, taxi cost ~25RMB to the campus.
